It’s been a little over a week since my husband and I went apple picking at Morgan Farms. We ended up buying a bushel of apples for $22 – a fantastic deal considering how difficult this year has been for fruit farmers in New York.
Despite making two batches of applesauce, two apple crisps, one apple pie, four caramel apples, a batch of oven-baked apple chips, and eating at least one fresh apple per day… we still have a good half-bushel left.
Since apples certainly don’t last forever, and we’ve exhausted most of the “standard” apple recipes and uses, I think it’s about time we got a little more creative.
Here is a list of 25 unique and relatively inexpensive recipes using apples. The first group requires the apples to be as fresh and sweet as possible, while the rest (mostly baked goods with sugar added) can be made with slightly older/bruised apples if necessary.
